Dear Comet Counselor,

I’ve always been a very motivated and organized student but for some reason I’ve been procrastinating on my school work a lot lately. It adds a lot of stress and my grades are starting to drop. I want to get back to being on top of my work but I don’t know where to start.

Sincerely,

Procrastinator

I procrastinate a lot, especially near the end of a semester. My #1 tip is to do the easiest assignments first. Choose something you can finish in like 15 minutes. Maybe an assignment you’ve already started or something easy from an elective class. Getting started is the hardest part, but doing just one thing that isn’t intimidating can help you get the ball rolling and finish some other work too. If you’re procrastinating a big project I would recommend working on just part of it at a time and doing other assignments in between. Don’t stress yourself out by saying you have to get it all done in one sitting. And, finally, if you’re really struggling or falling behind you should talk to your teachers and see if there is anything they can do to help you out.

Sincerely,

The Comet Counselor
