By some planning, we, the class of 2026, agreed on Wednesday, September 3, at 5:30 am to celebrate our Senior Sunrise, the day after the first day of school. Coming off a busy Labor Day weekend, especially during the county fair, we just went ahead and set up Senior Sunrise during the early morning.
Some schools do their Senior Sunrise at the end of the Senior year. I think that doing this at the start of the year is better because it starts the year with a strong, positive feeling. If it means an earlier sunrise time, it is still worth it.
That Wednesday, the morning got off to a shaky start for us. Rain was pouring. There was even some lighting. We were not sure if we should postpone our Senior Sunrise. If we were to postpone, when would we do it, and what about the foods we were already bringing?
There was some back and forth among the seniors on the dilemma, but we decided to do it regardless. The rain eventually let up, and our risk had paid off.
The Class of 26 Seniors met at the football field. The turf was not wet at all, meaning that the turf has great absorbent material or drainage.
We did party after all, with the good food and games.
