Our school held an extraordinary event on Saturday, April 13th at 5:30 pm to honor the legacy of a loved member of our school district and our community. This fundraiser was held to help raise funds for the fight against childhood cancer through the MACC Fund, Mr. Beighton’s favorite charity. Our community alumni basketball players competed against Comet students, staff and community members. . This created such a great experience for all of the participants and everyone who attended this wonderful event.
Who is Mr. Beighton
Mr. Beighton is an amazing teacher who always has a smile on his face even through hard times. He was an English teacher and the varsity boys’ basketball coach. He made a huge impact on every student he taught and always made English class fun for everyone. Every day in his class was an exciting new life lesson. Unfortunately this past summer he suffered from a stroke and was unable to come back to school and do what he loved most, being surrounded by students and his colleagues. In honor of all of his dedication to the Delavan-Darien School District and as a member of the Delavan community, our school and community gathered to raise $5,000 for the MACC fund (Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer). Thank you to everyone who came out to support and honor an incredible teacher.
