It’s that time of year again, Comets: Homecoming is here! That’s right, a week full of fun festivities like dress-up days and activities for our students and community.
The festivities kick off on Saturday, October 4th, at 6:30 pm, with our Neon Glow Sock Hop at Borg Stadium. This is a community event for our younger family members (ages 2-13 with parental supervision).
The following week is when the neon starts to pop at DDHS, with these dress-up days:
Monday: Wear your best glow or neon gear for a Neon Out.
Tuesday: Radical ’80s Day—style yourself with your biggest hair, comfiest leg warmers, and retro fits to fit the theme.
Wednesday: Show off your glow-up goals by dressing as your dream career outfit or a chic fit to show off your future self. Wednesday also marks the start of the high school’s fun activities for our students, Powderpuff and bonfire night. Dress up in your class’s powderpuff shirt (or class color) and support your class at 4:30 pm for Boys volleyball, 6:30 pm Girls football, and 8:00 pm for our late-night bonfire behind the school. Below this article, you can also find what the shirts will look like, so make sure you have paid and picked yours up before Wednesday, or match your class color!
Thursday: Everybody’s favorite dress-up day, pajama day, as well as the community’s house decorating contest at 6:00 pm.
Friday: Start your day in your comet pride. Wear the Comet Nation t-shirts that were handed out in first period the other week, or other Comet merchandise.
On Friday, all schools in the district let out 2 hours early, which gives you time to finish those parade floats or walk down to support your peers on the brick road at 4:00 pm for the homecoming parade. After the parade, be sure to stop by the high school’s parking lot for our tailgate and pig roast before the game at 7:00 pm. Feel free to stay for the whole game to see the celebratory fireworks at 9:00 pm. Have a great Homecoming, Comets! Stay loud, proud, and keep blazing!
