The Zombie Apocalypse Survey’s goal was to create a fun “What if?” scenario in which zombies took over Delavan-Darien High School. The questions were aimed at fitting different members of our school’s faculty into specific roles or zombie apocalypse stereotypes. The survey received 107 responses; below are the most common responses and trends for each question.

Question 1: Which teacher is most likely to survive in a zombie apocalypse?

The most common response to this question was Mr. Bell, with 24 votes, accounting for 22.4% of all responses. The second most common response was Mrs. Radloff, with 14 votes, edging out Mr. Duvall’s 13 votes for second. The outcome of this question was not unexpected, after all; Mr. Bell is known for being a skilled technician. His experience in the U.S. Military also improves his likelihood of survival in a zombie apocalypse.

Question 2: Which teacher would be the most resourceful?

The teacher with the most votes was Mr. Duval with 21 votes, making up 19.6% of the total answers. Second was Mr. Bell with 11 votes. Mr. Duval is known amongst students as a craftsman, making him have an obvious advantage in this category. Mr. Duval is an expert in woodworking and carpentry, allowing him to be a resourceful leader in a zombie apocalypse scenario.

Question 3: Which teacher would take the lead?

The teacher most likely to take the lead in a zombie apocalypse, according to the sample of 107 students, is Mr. Alter, with 16 votes accounting for 15% of the votes. Ms. Dennis and Mr. Duval are tied for 2nd with 8 votes each. Mr. Alter is a teacher who is recognized for his confidence, humility, and decision-making. All of these characteristics that Mr. Alter is recognized for are qualities that fit his role as a leader in a zombie apocalypse.

Question 4: Which teacher would create the weirdest/silliest zombie fighting weapons?

Out of the 107 responses from students, the teacher who is most likely to create weird/silly weapons for zombie fighting is Ms. Dennis, with 15 votes (14% of votes). In a close second was Mr. Alter with 13 votes, followed by Mr. Prager with 7 votes. Ms. Dennis is acknowledged by many students as a quirky individual who enjoys making the best out of situations, even if it is a post-apocalyptic world full of zombies.

Question 5: Which teacher would keep everyone calm and motivated?

The most voted teacher that would keep everyone calm and motivated was Mrs. Alter, with 13 votes, followed by her husband, Mr. Alter, with 11 votes. The Alter duo combined made up 24 of the total votes, which is 22.4% of the response answers. In third is Ms. Dennis with 9 votes. Both Mrs. and Mr. Alter are accepted by students as encouraging and compassionate people, which is most likely why they were voted for this category. An individual who is responsible for keeping people calm and motivated is expected to have the two traits Mr and Mrs. Alter have.

Question 6: Which teacher would sacrifice themselves for the greater good?

The teacher voted most likely to sacrifice themselves for the greater good by students ended in a tie between Mrs. Waychoff and Ms. Dennis, having 8 votes each (making up 15% of votes). Unlike the other categories, no particular teacher had a significant lead in votes. This is an accurate reflection of the sincere faculty at Delavan-Darien High School. Demonstrating how all teachers, regardless of the subject they teach, are seen as selfless by students.

Question 7: Which teacher would build the best survivor’s base?

The teacher whom students voted would build the best survivors is Mr. Duval, winning by a major landslide. Mr. Duval received a whopping 69 votes, comprising 64.4% of all votes.
