The homecoming parade is a time-honored tradition that brings alumni and current students together to celebrate our school community. Many traditions have remained the same, including floats and the marching band. However, the homecoming parade, like the band, has marched forward through the years. The parade builds unity between the student body and the community. Student groups work together to form ideas and collaborate on building their floats as they ride through town.

Community members who watch the parade reminisce about their own homecoming experiences. Alumni from the 1980s shared their memories in the following float:

Alumni from the 60s may remember the class of ‘65 creating and presenting their famous blue whale.

Alumni from the 1950s remember the homecoming parade, which included the homecoming court riding in formal attire on the back of convertibles. The parades also included horses and floats from various organizations, such as the FFA.

The 2024 homecoming parade included over 47 entries over 40 minutes as families and community members eagerly lined the streets.

Some floats involved were:

An outstanding staff member float pulled by a tractor to recognize their dedication and all they contribute to our school community.

Also, a humorous Kunes float, with its “wrecked” vehicle, invoked school spirit in an entertaining way

And, of course, the relentless football team on their float hours before their game against Evansville.

This float is always a highlight for students and alumni alike. It is safe to say that the 2024 parade was a success for all students and alumni who were fortunate enough to attend.
