Anybody who’s played sports at DDHS knows the good food and good friends that can be found at a pasta dinner. The question is, which pasta is the best? I’ve interviewed Joe Ketterhagen on the subject and he matter-of-factly told me his mother’s pasta was easily the best served at a pasta dinner. He described it as “delightful.“ I thought to myself, surely, there’s other people who will probably claim their pasta is better, right? Apparently, the Katzenburgers’ chicken alfredo is nothing to sneeze at. Some students say it has the “perfect ratio of sauce-to-pasta.” When I asked Jaelyn (Mrs. Katzenburger’s daughter) about the stuff, she said, “It’s really good because of the homemade sauce.”

Interestingly enough, some student-athletes prefer store-bought food over homemade dinners. They argue that homemade pasta wasn’t always the best food available. I have on record people saying Jojo’s pizza is always good, and one person was able to give a vivid description of the garlic knots purchased from a local Aldi:  “You have this ball and it’s fluffy, and on top of it you sprinkle the seasons and then smother it in butter. It is gooey happiness.”

As a soccer player, I can attest to Kirkpatrick’s pasta (Shawn’s Kirkpatrick’s parents) as being one of the best. It wasn’t just the pasta that was good though. They also had loads of side dishes, fruit, and desserts. The garlic bread was top-notch! I had the pleasure of going a few weeks ago and still can’t forget the taste.

All in all, pasta dinners with the team are always delicious and a great experience. And after several interviews, I can safely say there isn’t a clear winner. If you think there is, share your thoughts! Let your pasta passion be made known! Go to this link and submit your response!
