The Comets volleyball team just won the Rock Valley Conference championship game, and the Comets football team just punched their ticket to the playoffs. It is a great year to be a Comet!
The Comets volleyball team capped off a dominant regular season, with a record of 19-5, with a 3-0 win over East Troy, becoming the Rock Valley champs. As usual, the Comets were dominant from the start to the end. After the win, the athletes celebrated their win in the student section; the atmosphere was electric.
After the win, Coach Hailey Mueller posted on Instagram: “August and September have met all my expectations! I’m reviewing the Lady Comets’ impressive achievements this season so far, which have already surpassed initial expectations, prompting new goals. I have written down three goals for my season this year: 1. Take a set from East Troy [we won both matches against them, making us the new Rock Valley Conference Champs]. 2. Learn a new offense. 3. Speed up our defense. We have one more conference game next week on Tuesday at Jefferson! Words cannot describe what this TEAM has done! The road to Green Bay is going to be an unforgettable ride!” It’s safe to say the Lady Comets have eclipsed Coach Mueller’s initial goals.
The football team got their job done easily last Friday, October 11th. The team was firing on all cylinders. The offense scored three touchdowns, the defense shut out the East Troy offense, and the special teams were 3/3 on extra points. The season for the Comets football team was very successful for the program. The Comets won the homecoming game against Evansville, a climax after the two-game win streak before the homecoming game. Though the Comets lost the game after the homecoming game, they bounced back with a win against East Troy, catapulting the Comets into the playoffs! The playoff is where anything can happen; it’s a new season. It’s safe to say that Coach Mark Kibler’s boys are balling.
