This week’s senior spotlight features Drama Club’s dynamic president, Mady Barta. She is as strong at acting as she is at giving out hope to our students.

On Wisconsin!

After summer, Mady is making her way up north to attend University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she will study Mathematics and Astronomy. Her constant pursuit for knowledge will undoubtedly support her in these tough majors.

Lights, Camera, Action

Mady’s involvement at Delavan-Darien High School ranges from being president of the drama club to being in student council. She’s never fallen short of an activity. She’s loved being in all the musicals, one act plays, hope squad, graduation committee, comet mentors, National Honors Society, the academic bowl team, and the math team. Even though she hasn’t joined a sport, she’s still one of our most active members of the school community.

Passion for Actin’

Madalyn recalled her favorite parts of high school as “any One Act rehearsal where I got to spend time with my friends.” This was also where she met most of her friends, in this welcoming community built with fun and laughter by every actor.

Advice to the Younger Classes

A common, but necessary, piece of advice Mady gives, is to “get involved. It’s how you meet your best friends.” Every upperclassmen can attest to this. Whether it be through a sport or a club, getting involved will always help you get to know those with the same interests.

Looking back

As Mady has thought about her time here, she remembers her favorite class, choir. Taught by our lovely teacher and musical director, Mr. Krueger, who’s never failed to create a welcoming environment. However, her favorite teacher was her math teacher, Mrs. Kohn, who helped her find her passion for math.
