As November approaches, so do the One-Act plays. Performances this year will be held at 7 pm on November 15th and 16th. This year, the two one-act plays are titled “A Simple Task,” directed by senior Bray Peandro, and “12 Incompetent Men,” directed by senior Aidan Shuenke.

“A Simple Task” tells the story of a character named Empie, whom her boss hires to collect a merchandise box. It appears to be a simple task, but it’s hard to complete the assignment when her boss keeps changing personalities. Empie goes on a wacky and humorous adventure. Can she get the task done before she gets fired?

The second play, 12 Incompetent Men, tells the story of 12 jurors who review evidence of the plaintiff, Mr. Pleats, who is accused of stealing half a dozen cats. Each juror is weird in their way: Jurors 5 and 6, a bickering couple; Juror 10, a man who’s always angry; Juror 12,  a German immigrant who doesn’t understand much; Juror 9, a freaky French fry eater; and Juror 8, a lawyer who thinks he’s good. Unfortunately, juror number three is the only sane man on the jury. Can he convince the jury, or will the presumed lawyer convince the jury?

In the past, the one-act plays have always been a highlight for me. Everyone who performs is talented. New freshman actors are coming into the theater this year, and their performances will not disappoint. New faces include Jermey Johnson, Tristan Square, Tyler Minein, Cadence Van Asten, Waylon Burdick, and Jehu Vazquez Aranda. However, this is not their first year in theater, as most of them have been in performances since they were in second grade. Some of their past productions include Character Matters, Super Happy Awesome News, Matilda, High School Musical, and The Lion King.
